After you get your website built, you may want to get your own affiliate program started. Each 'affiliate' would equal a 'salesmen' in the brick and mortar world. The more salesmen you have, the more sales you will make. However, remember that you might have one affiliate that is a real go-getter and will make more sales than all the rest put together. So, the number of affiliates really doesn't matter so much as the quality of the affiliates.
When you start looking for affiliate program companies that will run your affiliate program, you will quickly find that they are WAY overpriced so as to knock out the small businessman. They want the Procter and Gamble companies that can pay them the big bucks. The prices they charge are usually $5000.00 MINIMUM for the reliable companies!
Having used WebCards (see above) for several years, I noticed and kept track of the affiliate programs that they used. At first they had one that didn't work that well. Then they joined Commission Junction. They soon got out of that one... I can guess why... if you check out the prices that Commission Junction charges, you can guess why too... :) They then had and still have AffiliateWiz.
